Marksman DLC weapons

Postby Fitzgerald » 04 Mar 2015, 02:07

Five rifles and two machineguns have been confirmed for the Marksmen DLC, ranging from near-future weapons like the LWMMG to some old reliable ones like the M14 rifle. All of them appear to be of the caliber 7.62x51mm or greater, acting in DMR, special operations weapon, or MMG role.

Here is the album that showcases all seven weapons.

1. The ASP-1 Kir is a 12.7x54mm special operations sniper rifle designed to be accurate with its integrated suppressor. It is based on the real-life VKS Vykhlop. The faction it belongs to is uncertain at the moment; it is displayed with a NATO soldier, but it was previously displayed with CSAT (named the 'Akina' instead).

2. The Mk-1 EMR is a 7.62x51mm designated marksman rifle based off of the real-life SIG 716 DMR. It belongs to the NATO faction.

3. The MAR-10 is a .338 Lapua Magnum sniper rifle, presumably used by the CTRG faction in place of the Mk18 ABR. The exact origin of the rifle is unknown; it appears to be inspired by multiple civilian firearm designs.

4. The Cyrus is a 9.3x64mm marksman rifle used by the CSAT faction, presumably as an intermediate between the Rahim and the Lynx. It appears to be based on an upscaled take of the modern FN FAL, possibly in the FN FAL OSW format.

5. The SPMG is a .338 Norma Magnum MMG based on the real-life LWMMG developed for the US Army by General Dynamics, pictured here. It fills in the empty slot for NATO's Medium Machine Gun.

6. The Navid is a 9.3x64mm MMG based on the real-life MG5, developed by H&K. It belongs to the CSAT faction, supporting the Zafir in the long-range machinegun role.

7. The Mk14 is a 7.62x51mm battle rifle, taken directly from the real-life M14 rifle. This one is a mysterious addition to the Marksmen arsenal, as the Mk14 EBR, an updated version of the M14, is already within ArmA III. It has been pictured to be in the AAF's arsenal, even though the AAF already has the Mk18 ABR (Mk14 EBR) in their weapons list. Perhaps the M14 will be used by FIA, since they do not have a marksman rifle.

I am really liking that first one. Bullpup snipers are quite awesome. And a built in supressor is quite the added bonus.

A few people (including myself) have been having issues / hating the ASP-1 Kir because we feel that the zeroing is broken. In this video Dslyexci explains why it has those issues and that it is a very special purposed weapon.
